Tymor y Gwanwyn /  Spring Term 2009

This term we have had 2 artists working with us in Year4 - Sara Holden in 4D and Dave Marchant in 4M. To begin the project, we visited Oxwich  beach on a beautiful Winter's day in January. It was a lovely sunny day and we had a great time creating sculptures on the beach and visiting the beautiful old church on the hill overlooking the beach. We sketched several pictures of our sculptures as well as the beach, and the church .

We aslo produced 4 large canvases and  2 large pictures which ar now hanging proudly outside our clasrooms in Year 4.

We really enjoyed working with the artisits and learnt a great deal from them.

Diolch yn fawr i Mrs. Holden a Mr. Marchant.

We wrote poetry in English and Welsh based on the visit to Oxwich.

Wintry Oxwich

The polished pebbles glistening brightly.

The trees swaying quietly

in the distance of the peaceful beach..

The stretched beach standing firmly,

Facing the horizon.

The sharp-edged wood scattered everywhere

Rough, tough waves curling, carefully quickly.

Horses galloping gently, skilfully,

Past the golden beach.

The scary graves

Standing absolutely

The damp old church,

Standing gently,

Looking towards the sea.

Frightening, gargoyle heads

On the silent church.

The tall silent rocky cliff,

On the edged beach.

The sparkling shells,

Facing the narrowed dull church.

The ancient dull graveyards.

Non-breakable, noisy branches.

A water pump spaying smelly carefully, slowly,

On the dull surface.

The freaky woods,

With people walking quickly,

towards the peaceful graveyards.
